Road Rally

We’re bringing back the Road Rally! On Wednesday, September 15th from 7PM to 8:30PM you will embark on the most complicated car ride of your life. Only a few will make it back to the church with all the check points completed. It is kind of like The Amazing Race, but completely Mantecafied.

If you would like to participate in CSM’s 2010 Car Rally, you will need 3 things;
1. To be at the Crossroads on Wednesday, September 15th by 7PM. Don’t be late, they might leave without you!
2. A 2010 Release Form. Since we’re leaving the church property with you.
3. A friend.

Actually that last one is optional, but we highly recommend (and it is infinitely more fun) if you bring a friend.

So once again, if you would like to run around Manteca in a car with friends completing various tasks (what could be more fun?), be there Wednesday, September 15th by 7PM with a completed Crossroads 2010 Release Form (preferably turn that in before the 15th). If you do not have a Release Form, you can not go.

Sometimes in the bible you can learn a great lesson from a secondary person or even the third. One of these comes from the famous parable of the Prodigal son(Luke15:11-32). As so many of us do I’ve read this many times and thought about the relation between the dads love and forgiveness for his jacked up son and Gods grace and love for me, his jacked up son.But one day I was reading it and the other dude in the story caught my attention, the brother. During this time in my life I was constantly speaking to God about where Iwas financially,as a husband and father of two children at the time I was struggling to make ends meet . And I was always tempted with looking at the cars in the parking lot at the church not so much with fancy cars just the cars that ran good or were in good shape while my 1988 Jetta was smoking under the hood and out the tailpipe or watching the little kids run around with nice clothes while my children wore second hand clothes. In no way am i saying i was right but i went to God with everything and i begain to ask why things were that way for me financially and great for so many others. I never gave up my faith in him as my provider and I would always stand on his promises like in malachi3:10-12 but as i was reading the end of the Prodigal Son I was reminded of the coversation I had with the Lord and he spoke very clear that day in verse 31 “And he said to him ‘son you have always been with me and all that is mine is yours”and i begain to understand sometimes we forget that we are children of THE KING. And how all that he has is ours and he wants us to come to him in specifics not pouting about what others have that we dont. I never prayed for a BMW or a Benz but I have prayed for a dependable car to get my family to appointments and myself to work . If he would have given me a nice donkey that would have been cool too. I bring all this up because i know for some of you time is coming close to start looking for collages and in our minds sometime we limit God and we think there is no way I can attend a University or go to the collage of my choice.If your time passes you buy and you became bitter over it you may find yourself feeling like the brother in this story. Learn from the other dude and myself dont throw yourself a pitty party but stand on Jesus’ words “ALL THAT IS MINE IS YOURS’

ROOTED: A NIGHT OF WORSHIP! July 9th, 2010 @ 6

In August of last year, CSM held Devotion: A Night of Worship. Students and adults alike experienced an evening filled with intimate worship through music, challenging messages, and heartfelt responses to questions like, “Who or what are you devoted to?” and “How will you be devoted to God?”

This year, we have selected ROOTED for the night’s title and theme. Derived from Ephesians 3:16 -18 the night will focus on how we, as believers in Jesus, ought to be rooted in love, and how the more we make Him our “root,” our source, the bigger the picture of His love and His plan for us becomes.

ROOTED will include, but is not limited to, various forms of worship such as; Worship through music, dance, drama, visual arts, and spoken word. Everything we do in life, can act as worship unto our Maker and Savior and it is because of that fact that we include variety, rather than make the evening only about the music.

The main purpose of ROOTED, like all of our nights of worship, is to experience God through powerful, expressive, vibrant worship; to break away from our routines and show our devotion to Jesus. To allow for no limitations, boundaries, or comfort zones, but instead display passionate, unrestrained worship to Him who displayed passionate, unrestrained love… for us. Our goal is to encourage everyone participating, young and old, into deeper intimacy with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit through responsive forms of worship. Our hope is to inspire fellow believers to dig deeper; to take root in the love of Christ and tap into the full potential he has for our lives.

It’s gonna be an awesome night!

On his own

I was thinking about how amazing and mysterious God is. Sometimes we think we know what the best scenario for our life is. Usually because it’s easy or because we think it makes sense in our “finite” minds. Tim spoke on Monday at college group about how we all go through tough times and how we ought to look to God and trust Him no matter what. Watch this video and see how God worked in this mans life. God is good, God is true , and God is sovereign.
